Those who do not just want to sit around when on holidays, but be active, have plenty of opportunity to do so in Paznaun Valley. The mountains are a true adventure playground, just waiting to be explored by you. Climbing has always been part of the alpine culture in Tirol, often there was no other way to get up. Today we climb for fun and for the love of the mountains. Since recently, there are also three via ferratas in Galtür, one of which leads up to the summit of the Ballunspitze. In Jamtal valley, experienced climbers will find numerous options on their activity holidays, for top-roping as well as walking nice multi-pitches. The Jamtalhütte even has its own climbing hall. Galtür enjoys a reputation of the highest order among the international bouldering scene. More than 160 different boulders are waiting in the boulder area of the Silvapark to be conquered, including one of the most difficult boulders in the world. At the rear of the Alpinarium, climbing friends will find their own climbing wall and in the interior of the hall there is a boulder hall, where you can hone your climbing technique even in poor weather. In Paznaun Valley, you'll even find a high ropes course where you can practice your skills.
Rafting, Canyoning, Paragliding in Paznaun Valley
What would activity holidays be without drafting or canyoning? That's right, something would be sorely lacking. You should try this out at least once in life. In the immediate vicinity of Galtür, you'll find perfect opportunities to do so. Various rivers and gorges of all levels of difficulty provide enough challenges for adrenaline junkies. In case the element of water does not appeal to you all that much, then maybe you'd be interested in a paragliding or hang-gliding tandem flight. Fantastic, these views across Galtür and rear Paznaun Valley you can catch in the process. The landing site for paragliders and hang-gliders is located directly behind the hotel. You can also take a tandem flight for that adrenaline rush. Guests of the Zonataja will receive a special discount for this.
Golfclub Silvretta
Even if you may not expect it, you can actually play golf at this altitude. The Golfclub Silvretta in Partenen is only 25 minutes away from Hotel Zontaja and offers a 9-hole course in wonderful surroundings. Activity holidays in Paznaun Valley also provide numerous other options. The wide valley around Galtür lends itself perfectly to go on a Nordic Walking tour along the most scenic paths in the region. Furthermore, in the sports and culture centre you will also find an indoor adventure pool with a 45 metre long slide. For those who like playing tennis and squash, there are indoor courts ready to be played on.
Our family tip: Via Ferrata Little Ballun
Fun for the whole family. The entry point for this via ferrata is located just a few minutes from the Birkhahnbahn upper terminus and suitable for children from around 8 years old. The via ferrata is optimally secured – but you still need the necessary gear (via ferrata kit, helmet, gloves, sturdy footwear) to go on this family outing into the mountains.
